Cleveland chefs to get Cavaliers' championship rings

CLEVELAND -- The hands of Cleveland's iconic chefs will soon be decorated in championship bling.

Chef Rocco Whalen revealed during a live interview on WKYC’s Facebook page Tuesday morning that he was getting a Cavs' ring alongside chefs Michael Symon and Jonathon Sawyer.

All three have eateries inside Quicken Loans Arena.

“When Dan Gilbert calls for your ring size you give it to him,” Whalen declared.

Last month, Gilbert made international headlines when it was announced he was spending $1 million to provide all Cavs employees -- from janitors to ushers -- a championship ring.

“The fact they recognize the staff as a whole unit is something that makes me proud to be a part of," Whalen said.

The Cavs’ ring ceremony comes as the Cleveland Indians host the Chicago Cubs in Game 1 of the World Series on Tuesday night.

“It’s a great time to be a Clevelander. It’s a great time to be a sports fan. It’s a great time to watch your Cavs and your Indians be champions.”
