CLEVELAND - The Cleveland Cavaliers look to hold serve at home tonight in Game 2 of their NBA Eastern Conference First Round Series with the Indiana Pacers at Quicken Loans Arena. The Cavs lead the best-of-seven series, 1-0, after taking Game 1 on Saturday, 109-108.
The defending NBA Champions had to hold on after blowing a 10-point lead early in the 4th quarter. The Pacers had a chance to win, but C.J. Miles' shot was off the mark at the buzzer.
We've seen this trend of the Cavaliers losing leads quite a bit this season, however LeBron James is not worried. "I just wanna win man. You can have a 4th quarter lead and lose, have a 4th quarter lead and win, be down and win. I just wanna win the game. I don’t care what happens. You can be up by 100 and win by one, I don’t really care. It’s one game. That's all that really matters."
The Cavaliers could also do themselves a favor by being more proficient at the free throw line. The Wine and Gold were only 14-27 in their Game 1 win over Indiana. James was 6-9 at the line and sought out the advice of teammate Kyle Korver to improve his free throw shooting. "When giving advice about free throw shooting, the things I think about most is take the unnecessary things out of your shot. To make it compact and as simple as possible," Korver explained during Monday's shootaround.
"Not all guys want to hear things, but give credit to LeBron for being open to changing some things, especially now. I felt a little weird saying something," Korver chuckled.
The Cavaliers will also look to be stronger on the rebounding side, after Indiana outmuscled them, 41-34. Kevin Love was held to just four boards for the game. The Wine and Gold turned the ball over 11 times but it cost them 19 points. "We need to clean up after turnovers, get back in transition, and not allow for them to get layups or pull up 3s," said James.
"We are going to be much better tonight."
Tip off for tonight's game will be at 7:00 p.m. Matt Florjancic will have a live blog throughout the game at WKYC.com and will team up with Dave Chudowsky for Facebook Live analysis.
