John's Take: Should the Cavs trade Kyrie?

Tonight is Game 1 of the NBA Finals. I like watching excellence. The Spurs and Heat are two of the most successful franchises in all of sports.

A team that is not even close is our Cavaliers. And now trade rumors are swirling around Kyrie Irving.

The Cavs can sign Irving to a max contract extension. But both sides don't seem to be too anxious to do it.

There's been talk that Kyrie doesn't want to stay. He's denied that.

But there's no denying that this team is a mess in the locker room. It seems either Kyrie or Dion Waiters has to go. LeBron has said he would like to play with Kyrie, but there's a better chance they'll hook up in Miami. I'd keep Kyrie if it meant LeBron coming here, but it won't happen.

Kyrie has injury issues. He missed 11 games last year after missing 31 and 23 his first two seasons. $80 million is a lot of money for a guy who can't stay healthy and maybe doesn't have it in his heart to stay.

If you find the right trade partner, you can get rich in this draft. Start fresh with two future superstars. Rebuilding is never fun. We know that, but sometimes you have to level the building completely and start from the ground up. Again.
