BEREA, Ohio — Cleveland Browns starting safety Jordan Poyer remains hospitalized with a lacerated kidney suffered in Sunday's loss at Tennessee.
Coach Hue Jackson said Monday he has been in contact with Poyer, who was injured in the second quarter when he was blindsided on a vicious hit by Titans running back Antonio Andrews. Poyer was taken to Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital for observation and Jackson said the team is hoping he will be discharged soon.
Poyer's injury is the latest — and most serious — for the Browns, who have been ravaged by medical issues all season. Poyer will likely be sidelined for the rest of the season, but Jackson is not ruling out his return. He has not been told if Poyer also has a concussion.
Jackson does not think the hit by Andrews was malicious and chalked it up to being part of the game.
