BEREA -- Channel 3 News has confirmed that Cleveland Browns Head Coach Romeo Crennel has been fired.
Cleveland Browns owner Randy Lerner released Crennel Monday morning.
Crennel's release comes after a disappointing 4-12 season.
In a statement, he says not enough progress was made in his four years as Browns coach.
Browns owner Randy Lerner was held a news conference with members of the media. He did not allow cameras into the event.
Lerner confirmed that he asked Crennel if he would be interested in staying with the team as an assistant coach. Lerner indicated Crennel was interested, but would not commit to anything.
Brown's GM Phil Savage was released Sunday after the Brown's shutout loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Associated Press said last night that Savage was told by Browns owner Randy Lerner that the organization is going in another direction.
