AKRON -- "First Night" is scheduled to ring in its 18th new year.

The event begins at 6 p.m. with activities and events scattered throughout downtown.

More than 80 artists will take the stage, along with magicians, ice sculptors, fire jugglers and more.

Some restaurants and venues will be open, serving food and drinks, with other indoor activities for those trying to escape the cold.

Admission buttons cost $10, while kids under 10 years old get in for free.

Parking is free all night.

There's a midnight countdown show and second fireworks display scheduled to end the night.
