CLEVELAND -- A task force wants Cleveland to rename the street where the remains of 11 women were found at the home of the man now sentenced to death for the killings.

Residents, business owners, ministers and victims' relatives are part of the group proposing the renaming of Imperial Avenue to help it shed the stigma of its link to convicted serial killer Anthony Sowell. It's part of a plan to memorialize the victims at the property, where the home was demolished last year.

The Rev. Jimmy Gates tells The Plain Dealer the focus is turning the street's story "from tragedy to triumph."

Not everyone welcomes the memorial idea. Some relatives say the victims' families should memorialize the women as they choose and the city should leave the property empty.
