With Ohio opening its first casinos this month and racetracks preparing for video lottery terminals, four state agencies are joining together to combat problem gambling.

The Ohio Lottery Commission, Ohio State Racing Commission, Ohio Casino Control Commission and the Ohio Department of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services have started Ohio for Responsible Gambling.

The initiative will build on existing programs and offer information and resources to people in need of help through a hotline(1.800.589.9966) or througha web site launching May 14.

The helpline will be staffed 24/7.

The Ohio Department of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services will be conducting studies periodically to determine the impact of more gambling opportunities on people in the state.
