LONDON -- Toledo native and former Ohio high school track standout, Erik Kynard, is bringing home a silver medal from the 2012 London Olympics.
Kynard finished second with a jump of 2.33 meters (7.6 feet). Ivan Ukhov of Russia claimed gold with a jump of 2.38 meters (7.8 feet).
Kynard, just 21, raised the height on Ukhov late in the competition but the Russian responded.
Three men were tied for bronze: Essa Mutaz Barshim of Qatar, Robert Grabaarz of Britain and Derek Drouin of Canada.
