BEREA -- Browns cornerback Joe Haden has been kicked off the practice field by coach Pat Shurmur for being too rough during Cleveland's final training camp workout open to fans.
Haden was ordered to leave roughly an hour into Wednesday's practice by Shurmur, who declined to provide details of the incident during his news conference. Shurmur says he regrets using bad language in front of fans during an exchange with Haden, who pulled off his helmet and shoulder pads before retreating to the locker room.
Shurmur was upset with Haden for tackling rookie wide receiver Travis Benjamin in the back of the end zone on a passing drill. Shurmur says his first concern is the safety of his players.
Haden is facing a possible league suspension for reportedly failing a drug test.
