AKRON -- Latino families in the Akron Latino community protested in Charles Goodyear Park Thursday afternoonagainst aggressive immigration enforcement tactics and and record-breaking deportations.
They urged elected officials to make immigration reform a priority in the Akron area.
The familiessaid thatlast week, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents raided five Mexican restaurants in the Akron area, taking more than 30 low-wage workers into custody, including dishwashers, waitresses and cooks.
Manyof the families and workers from the raid spoke out at the protest. They said they were opposed tothe massive number ofdeportations and that officials wereseparating Latino children from their parents.
