BRUNSWICK HILLS --Brunswick Hills Police arrestedLeslee B. Dunlap, 46,of Brunswick Hills Township, ona warrant on a felony indictmentforillegal cultivation of marijuana.
The indictment stems from an investigation that began with a dog bite call to Dunlap's homein June.
Detective Tim Sopkovich and Officer Wayne Fisher became suspicious when they smelled a strong odor of marijuana around Dunlap's home.
Brunswick Hills Police provided information to the Medina County Drug Task Forcewhich coordinated an aerial observation of the property by helicopter.
The large number of marijuana plants was easily seen from the air and the MCDTF officers recovered over 1,000 grams of marijuana from approximately 60 plants in Dunlap's back yard.
He was indicted on Oct. 3 and a warrant was issued for his arrest on Oct. 9. Dunlap was arrested without incident at his home at 86 Substation Road and taken to the Medina County Sheriff's Office where he is being held.
"It was good police work by Detective Sopkovich and Officer Fisher" said Brunswick Hills Police Chief Sharon MacKay, "and an excellent example of multi-agency cooperation leading to the indictment and arrest of a serious threat to our community."
