Thursday night, supporters wereatMcNulty's Bier Markt in Ohio City from 7 to 11 p.m. where "Save The Plain Dealer" is hosting the holiday bash

A special beer will be christened for the occasion. Owner Sam McNulty has named the beer "7-Day Lager... best when enjoyed daily, because one-a-day keeps the ignorance at bay."

Local singer-songwriter Alex Bevan is performing at the event. He was also perform "Ink on Paper," a song he wrote for the campaign.

As of now, big changes are said to be coming to The Plain Dealer.

Starting in 2013, about one-third of the newsroom staff will be eliminated. Proponents argue the changes would be devastating to maintaining the quality the paper has.

Advance Newspapers owns The Plain Dealer and is proposing the paper go to a 3-day-a-week paper. That would make Cleveland the largest city in the country without a daily newspaper.

A no-layoff or concession agreement between the Newspaper Guild and The Plain Dealer expires January 31.

Food will be provided for the event.
