CLEVELAND -- Whether you've lived in Cleveland for a year or a lifetime, there is a good chance you've seen a show at Playhouse Square.
But this year will be unlike any other.
The theatres make up the country's largest performing arts center outside of New York City. And when it comes to blockbuster shows, producers are clamoring to get their productions on the stages of Playhouse Square.
The State Theatre stage is getting prepped for one of the biggest productions of the season, "Priscilla Queen of the Desert."
There are typically about one million visitors to Playhouse square events every year. This year will likely exceed expectations.
"We have the highest number of season ticket holders we have ever had. So, these are folks who are committed to the entire Broadway series," says Jason Swank with Playhouse Square.
A record number of ticket holdersis good news for every business downtown.
Annually, the theaters generate $60 millionin revenue for the city. And because of the demand from customers, our Cleveland theatres are able to get the newest and biggest shows.
