Chestnut Hill, MA (Sports Network) - James Michael McAdoo posted a double- double of 17 points and 10 rebounds as the North Carolina Tar Heels captured an 82-70 victory over the Boston College Eagles in Big East play at Conte Forum.
Dexter Strickland and P.J. Hairston each added 14 points for North Carolina (14-6, 4-3 ACC) which has won four of its last five. It was not all good news for the Tar Heels though as Hairston was carted off the court on a stretcher in the first half after suffering a concussion in a collision with a teammate.
Olivier Hanlan scored a game-high 22 points and Ryan Anderson added 16 and Patrick Heckmann chipped in 12 off the bench for Boston College (9-11, 1-6) which suffered its fifth straight defeat.
North Carolina got out to a 48-33 lead at halftime by shooting 52.9 percent from the floor including a 5-of-8 showing from 3-point range. Boston College also shot well, hitting 48 percent of its shots in the first period.
Both teams cooled off in the second half. The Eagles connected on just 41.9 percent of their shot attempts which wasn't enough to overcome the Tar Heels who turned in a 42.9 percent shooting performance in the second half.
North Carolina outscored Boston College 20-10 in points off turnovers while owning a 37-26 edge in rebounding.
