CLEVELAND -- A man is facing multiple charges after the vehicle he was driving allegedly struck a 59-year-old woman Wednesday afternoon.

Cleveland Police say the woman was entering her parked vehicle when she was struck around 1 p.m. in the 6600 block of Lorain Avenue.

Herpurse was caught on the side of the suspect's vehicle mirror, police said, before the driver fled the scene.

The woman's son witnessed the incident and searched for the suspect's vehicle after calling for medical help and police assistance.

A short time later, the suspect's vehicle was found in the parking lot of a Home Depot at West 117th and Lorain Avenue.

The suspect, 26-year-old Raymond Stewart Jr., was located in the area and placed under arrest on charges of aggravated vehicular assault and possession of criminal tools.

Stewart was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center for treatment of injuries.

The incident remains under investigation.
