Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - Chris Johnson and Demitrius Conger netted 19 points apiece as the St. Bonaventure Bonnies defeated the Duquesne Dukes, 78-71, in an Atlantic 10 Conference bout at the Palumbo Center.
Johnson also pulled down nine boards for the Bonnies (13-13, 6-7 A-10) as they notched their second consecutive victory. Eric Mosley chimed in with 16 points and five assists.
Quevyn Winters paced Duquesne (8-19, 1-12) with 18 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the floor. Andre Marhold tallied 13 points while Derrick Colter and Jeremiah Jones scored 10 points each. Colter also dealt out nine assists as the Dukes suffered a loss for the 14th time in 15 games.
The Bonnies connected on 57.1 percent of their field goal attempts including 6-of-11 from beyond the arc before the break to take a 41-35 lead into the intermission. Duquesne fell behind after it shot 39.3 percent from the floor in the opening 20 minutes.
Colter scored all 10 of his points in the second stanza, but the Dukes connected on only 39.3 percent of their field goal tries after halftime. St. Bonaventure converted 15-of-20 at the free-throw line in the second period to keep the hosts at bay.
The Bonnies enjoyed a 35-26 edge in the rebounding battle. With the win, St. Bonaventure swept its season series with the Dukes.
