Tempe, AZ (Sports Network) - Scott Suggs paced all scorers with 16 points as the Washington Huskies held off the Arizona State Sun Devils, 68-59, in a Pac-12 Conference clash at Wells Fargo Arena.
Abdul Gaddy tallied 13 points and seven assists for Washington (15-13, 7-8 Pac-12), which has won two of three. Andrew Andrews netted 13 points off the bench, while Aziz N'Diaye corralled 10 rebounds for the visitors.
For ASU (20-8, 9-6), Ruslan Pateev, Jahii Carson and Evan Gordon all scored 10 points. Carson also dished out seven helpers for the Sun Devils, who had won their previous two contests.
Washington opened up a 32-28 lead at intermission by shooting greater than 48 percent from the field in the first half. ASU was right on its heels with 45.8 percent field goal shooting in the opening 20 minutes.
The Huskies appeared well on their way to an easy victory up by 12 with just over nine minutes left in the game, but the Sun Devils ripped off a 13-2 run to makes their deficit just one, 57-56, with 3:49 remaining. Washington put an end to the threat with four straight points however, as it sealed its fate by outscoring ASU 7-1 in the game's final 25 seconds.
Washington held a dominating 35-22 edge in the rebounding battle.
