Snow showers continued in New England on Sunday as the strong winter storm of the Northeast moved offshore into the western Atlantic Ocean.

As the winter storm pulled away from the New England Coast on Sunday, winds wrapping the system maintained snow shower activity from eastern Maine and New Hampshire through eastern Massachusetts and rain showers in eastern Connecticut through the afternoon.

Thus far, snow totals across much of the area have reached up to 12 inches, with locally higher amounts of up to 14.0 inches reported in Strafford County, N. H. Meanwhile, a second wave of energy swung in behind this system and kicked up lake-effect snow showers in the Lower Great Lakes snowbelt and Vermont.

To the south of this activity, an associated cold front triggered more scattered showers and chances of thunderstorms in Florida.

Another potent winter storm pushed across the western U.S. and kicked up heavy snow and strong wind across the Central and Southern Rockies on Sunday. Snowfall accumulation increased through the afternoon and reached up to 21.4 inches in Pinecliffe, Colo.

A variety of winter weather warnings and advisories continued for areas from the Southern and Central Rockies into the Central Plains as this system moved to the east.
