MINERVA, Ohio -- An oil well reportedly exploded in Minerva Sunday night, officials confirm.

The explosion was reported in the 8000 block of Knox-School Road, north of Sandy Spring Road.

Officials refused to comment on whether anyone was injured or the extent of any property damage.

A call to Columbiana County EMA was not returned overnight.

The well was owned by Atlas Gas, according to reports by the Canton Repository.

Investigators are still looking into the cause of the explosion.
