Katowice, Poland (Sports Network) - Top seeds Petra Kvitova and Roberta Vinci were a pair of easy quarterfinal winners Friday at the inaugural Katowice Open.
The former Wimbledon champion Kvitova drilled Croat Petra Martic 6-3, 6-2, while the Italian veteran Vinci vaulted past helpless Czech wild card Karolina Pliskova 6-1, 6-0 in 67 minutes on the indoor surface at Spodek.
The Czech left-hander Kvitova awaits the Shahar Peer-Alexandra Cadantu winner, while Vinci will meet German Annika Beck in Saturday's semifinals. Beck topped Italian qualifier Maria Elena Camerin 7-6 (7-1), 6-0 on Day 5.
This week's champion will pocket $40,000.
