CLEVELAND -- Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Timothy J. McGinty has charged16-year-old driver in the Jan. 9 death of Maxine Lobins, 81, on Lorain Avenue in Kamm's Corners.

McGinty charged the teen driver withaggravated vehicular homicide, failure to stop after an accident, vehicular homicide, falsification and certain acts prohibited.

On Jan. 9,the teenfatally struck Lobins in the crosswalk while driving her vehicle eastbound on Lorain Avenue at Kamm's Corner.

Shehad been driving a black GMC Acadia SUV when she struck the victim who, while using a walker, was crossing southbound to northbound in a marked crosswalk.

After hitting Lobins, the driver of the black SUV did not stop and continued eastbound on Lorain. Lobins was taken to Fairview Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

The Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office and the Cleveland Police Department's Accident Investigation Unitworking in connection with the Fairview Park Police Department, Rocky River Police Department, Lakewood Police Department, and the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Office investigated this case.
