AKRON -- Police are asking the public's help in locating a man they believe is responsible in a Thursday shooting.

Authorities say 23-year-old Cleophus Thompson Jr. of Akron is wanted for allegedly shooting a man in the right hand and left shoulder.

The incident happened shortly after 5 p.m. when the 24-year-old victim was driving near the intersection of Hammel and Corice streets.

After he had been shot, the victim drove to a store at Lovers Lane and Inman Street where he notified police and reported the gunfire followed an argument that happened earlier in the day.

He was taken to Akron City Hospital for treatment where authorities say his injuries do not appear to be life threatening.

Anybody with information on Thompson's whereabouts is asked to contact the Akron Police Department Detective Bureau at 330-375-2490; the U.S. Marshals Service at 1-866-4-WANTED; or the Summit County Crimestoppers Inc. at 330-434-COPS. Callers can remain anonymous.

Police warn Thompson should be considered armed and dangerous.
