MONTVILLE, Ohio-- Police in Montville are asking people to be extra cautious after a Black Bear was spotted.

Officers say a woman called police shortly before 7 a.m. Thursday morning after seeing a large black bear in her backyard inside the near the intersection of River Styx Road and Sharon Copley Road.

When officers arrived, the bear could not be found.

About an hour later another bear sighting was reported in the same area.

Police are recommending to people not to leave small animals or children outside unattended. If you spot the bear, do not approach it.Call police for assistance.
