CANTON, Ohio -- The McKinley Memorial in northeastern Ohio is unhappy with paid trainers taking runners there for a workout.

The privately managed William McKinley Presidential Library & Museum in Canton wants to stop personal trainers and fitness companies from using the memorial as a workout center.

Facility director Joyce Yut tells The Canton Repository the practice is disrespectful.

Personal trainer Daniel Williams says he's surprised and calls the memorial a workout favorite, especially the 108 steps to the memorial.

Officials say individual workouts are OK, but they don't want the property used for business. Officials say the memorial has been marred by trainer chalk marks and stretch cords linked to flag poles.

The memorial is the final resting place for President McKinley, his wife and two daughters.
