CANTON -- An aligator found in a Stark County park is with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Tuesday night.

The reptile was found about 2:45 p.m.in Waterworks Park, according to Canton police. Resports indicated it was about 3 feet long and was found near the park's creek.

The reptile was identified as an American alligator and seemed tame, according to reports in the Canton Repository. Park officials and police were able to secure its mouth and legs and transport it to a wildlife rehab center.

It is not clear how the alligator made it into the park.
