CONNEAUT LAKE, Pa.-- Crews have been mopping up after a fire heavily damaged the Beach Club at a historic amusement park in northwestern Pennsylvania.

Crawford County emergency dispatchers say some fire crews were beginning to pack up and leave the scene more than five hours after the fire was first reported at Conneaut Lake Park, about 2:20 a.m. Thursday.

The financially struggling park is home to the Blue Streak, one of the oldest wooden roller coasters in America, and is the focus of a weeklong makeover that is being recorded as part of a possible program for the Travel Channel.

The Beach Club is an entertainment complex which opened in 1936 at the park. The club and a neighboring pavilion were burned in fire, the cause of which remained under investigation.
