CLEVELAND -- Cleveland City Councilman Mike Polensek isincreasing the reward moneyfor tips leading to the arrest of the person who beat a mentally challenged man.

Councilman Polensek is doubling the reward from $1,000 to $2,000 for tips leading to the arrest and conviction of those involved in the vicious beating of John Rager on East 152nd Street.

Rager was severely beaten on his way home from work in the early morning hours of August 14. Rager nearly died as a result of his injuries and may suffer permanent physical injury as a result.

"This horrendous attack should outrage all greater Clevelanders," said Councilman Polensek. "We as a city cannot stand by and allow this kind of cruel and brutal act of violence to go unchallenged."

Anyone wishing to contribute to the reward fund can contact Councilman Polensek's office. In addition, the "John Rager Victim's Fund" fund has been established to assist the Rager family through the difficult times ahead. Anyone wishing to donate can do so at any Key Bank.
