SAYBROOK TOWNSHIP --The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle crash that resulted in a serious injury.

Just before 11 a.m. today, troopers responded to a traffic crash on US 20 between a2002 Chevrolet Cavalier driven by Rachel Brickman, 20, of Madison,and a 2000 Peterbuilt tractor-trailer, driven by Jason Caldwell, 38, of Warren.

Brickmanwas traveling east on US 20 and Caldwell waswestbound.

Preliminary investigation showsBrickman lost control, slid left of center and collided with the semi.

Speed for the road conditions appearsto be the contributing circumstance as theroadway was wet with the falling sleet on it.

Brickman was takento Ashtabula County Medical Center and then taken toHamot Trauma Center in Erie, Pennsylvania.

Caldwell was not injured.

Also responding to the crash scene were the Saybrook Fire Department and Community Care Ambulance.The crash is still under investigation.
