Yahoo News' Twitter feed was hacked late Sunday afternoon when it sent a tweet about an Ebola outbreak in Atlanta.
Shortly before 5 p.m. ET Sunday, the Yahoo News account tweeted that an Ebola outbreak in Atlanta had infected an estimated 145 people. The tweet was shortly taken down and Yahoo followed up with a tweet that said, "Earlier, an unauthorized tweet with misinformation on Ebola was sent from this account; please disregard that tweet."
Yahoo says it is looking into the matter with the help of Twitter, and is trying to determine where the tweet originated.
Two Ebola patients were flown to Atlanta last week for treatment at Emory University Hospital, where they're being given experimental drugs to try to fight the virus. Ebola has no known cure.
