LAKEWOOD -- Police here say an incident reported by a student on her way to school Monday was fabricated and never happened and that the student has been disciplined.
On Wednesday, Lakewood City Schools Superintendent Jeff Patterson had advised parents about the incident.
In a notification to parents, Patterson had said that, on Monday, "two of our Roosevelt students were approached by a driver in a black pickup truck on their short walk home from school. The driver offered a ride to the students, but they refused and the truck drove off."
Patterson added that the district is working with the Lakewood Police Department regarding the incident.
