NORTH RIDGEVILLE -- A driver was taken by LifeFlight to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland and two other people were also hospitalized after an accident Monday afternoon in North Ridgeville.

According to police, a 2006 Buick and a 2013 Mazda were both southbound on state Route 83 just before 1 p.m. when the Mazda was forced off the left side of the road. The Buick continued on for a short distance and came to a rest on state Route 83.

The driver of the Buick was flown to MetroHealth while an occupant of that vehicle and the driver of the Mazda were both taken to St. John Medical Center in Westlake.

Their conditions were not immediately available.

State Route 83 was closed between U.S. Route 20 and Mills Road during the crash investigation. The road reopened just before 3 p.m.

The investigation is ongoing, but speed is most likely a factor, according to police.
