It was a close call early Wednesday after a man lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a gas station pump.

CLEVELAND -- It was a close call early Wednesday after a man lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a gas station pump. It happened just after 2 a.m. at a GAS USA station on St. Clair, near East 123rd Street.

The vehicle started to smoke and spark, eventually catching a small fire underneath the vehicle. Firefighters quickly put the fire out and foamed the surrounding area down.

Emergency crews temporarily closed down two blocks nearby while fire crews made sure the area was safe. Two people were inside the vehicle, no word if they sustained any serious injuries.

Police are looking into what exactly caused the crash.
