AKRON -- An Akron home invasion turned deadly early Thursday morning.

The Summit County Medical Examiner's Office says 36-year-old Angelo Kerney was shot inside his Edward Avenue residence around 4:20 a.m.

Kerney, who had been shot in the head, was pronounced dead at the scene by 4:55 a.m.

An autopsy will be conducted.

Akron Police say a 20-year-old male was also found at the scene with a gunshot wound to the head. He was taken to Akron City Hospital where authorities say his injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.

According to detectives, the victims were inside the home with two females when a pair of masked men entered the home and demanded money.

The suspects opened fire before fleeing the scene.

The incident is under investigation.

No further details have been provided.
