ASHTABULA -- In a bond hearing Thursday afternoon, bond was set at $100,000 by Chardon Municipal Court Judge Terri L. Stupica for Carla Hague, 71, charged with felonious assault in the antifreeze poisoning of her husband, Ashtabula County Judge Charles Clague, back in September.
Stupica was appointed by the Ohio Supreme Court because all of the judges at the Ashtabula County Courthouse have recused themselves from the case, citing the fact that they are too close to the judge and his family.
If the case goes to trial, it will be tried in Ashtabula County.
Carla Hague's defense attorney asked Stupica if she did not need to be present at the bond hearing. The prosecutor did not object and Carla Hague did not appear.
She was in the Lake County Jail until this hearing.
On Wednesday morning, Carla Hague waived her right to a preliminary hearing.
