WAYNE – An arrest has been made after a 9-year-old girl was found dead Sunday morning.
The Wayne County Sheriff's Office has arrested 24-year-old Jerrod Metsker in the death of Reann Murphy.
Murphy was reported missing just before 8:30 p.m. The child was last seeing playing in a shared area of a park in the area of 5900 Akron Road in Smithville. around 5:30 p.m. Murhpy was seen around Metsger at the park by neighbors.
Deputies, firefighters, and volunteers began to search the area around the mobile home park when they came upon a dumpster near the child's home. At 1:35 a.m. they found Reann in the dumpster dead.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations has removed the dumpster to be processed at the Richfield BCI facility.
"Any violent death is troubling but the death of a child is more so," said Sheriff Travis Hutchinson. "We will leave no stone unturned as this investigation continues."
Metsker will be arraigned at 8:15 in a Wayne County courtroom Monday morning.
