BARBERTON -- Police are investigating a quadruple shooting at a home on Seventh Street Northeast in Barberton Tuesday evening.
According to a press release, four people were shot around 6:50 p.m. New Year's Eve.
The tenants of the house, Ronda Blankenship, 38, and her boyfriend, John Kohler, 42, were shot by unknown assailants who had targeted the home for a robbery.
Also in the house were John Kohler's children, 18-year-old Ashley Carpenter and 14-year-old David Kohler-Carpenter.
Ashley Carpenter and David Kohler-Carpenter were pronounced dead on the scene. John Kohler and Ronda Blankenship were taken to Akron hospitals by the Barberton Fire Department.
The Barberton Police Department Detective Bureau and agents from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation along with the Summit County medical examiner's office are all involved and actively investigating the incident.
