MENTOR -- On Wednesday, Mentor Police arrested a man and a woman in possession of a reported stolen car.

Police say that the investigation has determined that the two people arrested by the Mentor Police are the same two suspects who allegedly committed a robbery at the Gabriel Brothers clothing store in Wickliffe on Dec. 24.

Police had circulated their photos and tips called in to police resulted in their identifying the suspects.

Just after 4:40 p.m. Dec. 24, the man and the woman are alleged to have taken two shopping carts worth of clothing from the Gabriel Brothers at 30150 Euclid Avenue in Wickliffe.

They were stopped by a loss prevention officer and a struggle ensued between the man and the officer. The woman got into a maroon Plymouth minivan and attempted to run the loss prevention officer down. The couple then drove off in the minivan.

The loss prevention officer was not injured, and the $700 worth of clothing was recovered at the scene. Through investigation, it was determined that the van was stolen from the near west side of Cleveland on Dec. 20.
