BARBERTON – Barberton police say they have arrested two men in connection with a triple homicide during a New Year's Eve home invasion robbery.
Police say they have arrested Michael Deon Hendon, 22, and his brother, Eric Donta Hendon, 30. Both men have a listed address on Fawler in Akron.
The brothers appeared in court Saturday where bond was set at $10 million each by visiting Judge McNulty. Their next court date is set for January 8.
Police say their investigation has revealed that Eric and Michael Hendon went to the home on 7th Street to rob the residence of drugs and money. Each is charged with three counts of aggravated murder and both are being held in the Summit County Jail.
The arrests come on the same day that the third victim died of his injuries.
At 3:45 p.m. Friday, John Kohler died at Akron City Hospital from gunshot wounds. An autopsy will be performed Monday. He is the father of the two teens who also died in the attack.
Just before noon Friday, the Summit County Medical Examiner confirmed that Ashley Carpenter, 18, and her brother David Kohler-Carpenter, 14, both died of multiple gunshot wounds to the head during the New Year's Eve home invasion/robbery.
A fourth person, Ronda Blankenship, 38, the father's girlfriend, was also injured. She remains in serious condition at the hospital.
