ASHLAND COUNTY -- State Highway Patrol troopers say they stopped a 2014 Chevy Impala with Ohio registration for an improper lane change and following too closely violations on Interstate 71 northbound in Ashland County at 4:11 p.m. March 6.
Upon approaching the vehicle, troopers say they detected an odor of raw marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.
A probable cause search of the vehicle revealed approximately one pound of marijuana, worth $5,000 in a vacuum-sealed bag inside a suitcase in the vehicle's trunk.
Troopers also discovered $7,000 in the center console.
The driver, James C. Davis Jr., 32, of Cleveland, taken to the Ashland County Jail and charged with possession and trafficking in marijuana, both fifth-degree felonies.
