Two vehicles recovered at Euclid Hospital were observed to have sustained multiple bullet holes in them
CLEVELAND -- Police are investigating a shooting that occurred at 2:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Sunoco gas station parking lot at E.185 Street and Neff Road.
Officers received call for shots fired at that location and when they arrived they found several shell casings in the gas station parking lot.
Then police received additional calls for a man and a woman with gunshot wounds at Euclid Hospital.
Officers responded and learned that David Welch, 33, was shot in lower back. Welch was taken by Life Flight to MetroHealth Medical Center.
Police learned that Welch had arrived at Euclid Hospital on foot with a female companion.
Shaquana Kinds, 23, was taken to Euclid Hospital by private vehicle. Kinds suffered gunshot wounds to arm.
Welch gives varying statements and then became uncooperative with police.
Kinds states she was at the gas station when multiple men began shooting at each other during a fight in the parking lot. Kinds says she was struck during at this time. She did not provide descriptions of the men.
Two vehicles recovered at Euclid Hospital were observed to have sustained multiple bullet holes in them. Both vehicles were rental cars and neither victim claimed the vehicles. Vehicles were processed and towed as evidence.
The Fifth District detective bureau will conduct the investigation. Officers will check for possible surveillance video.
