AKRON --- The University of Akron has hired a headhunter to identify candidates to become president of the university.
University trustees hired the search firm R. William Funk & Associates of Dallas to identify prospects to replace Luis Proenza.
He announced in August that he will step down in June to take a yearlong sabbatical and then return to teaching.
Campus spokeswoman Eileen Korey tells the Akron Beacon Journal (bit.ly/I8rX43) the search firm contract details have not been finalized. A fixed retainer fee would be in the range of $120,000 plus expenses.
The search committee has promised to invite finalists to Akron to meet with campus representatives.
