What started with a few school delays quickly ignited a frenzy of closings early Friday morning.
The first major district to announce it was closing was Cleveland Public Schools. CEO Eric Gordon tweeted out the news shortly before 5 a.m. saying: "ALERT! All @CLEMetroSchools will be closed today (Fri, January 24) because of extreme weather conditions. CMSD offices will remain open."

Within minutes, the list of closings grew exponentially with Akron Public Schools, Alliance City Schools, Barberton City Schools, Canton City Schools, Kent City Schools, Medina City Schools, Painesville City Schools, Wadsworth City Schools and many others joining the ranks.
