Elyria resident Chris Sito calls it a "sex group," hopes to defeat levy
ELYRIA -- Elyria High School students rallied in support of a new gay-straight alliance group at their school after some members in the community bashed the group.
Elyria resident Chris Sito says by inviting gay, lesbian, straight, bisexual and transgender students to the group, it is by definition a "sex club." As a result, this parent says he will vote against Issue 2 in May, which is a tax renewal for the district.
"We already have an anti-bullying program in the schools that works for all students," says Sito.
Students say they wanted to form the group to promote acceptance and human rights for all minority groups and individuals. LGBT students are often the target of bullies.
