If Disney's Newsies is on your list of shows to catch on Broadway, be warned: You have limited time.

It was announced Sunday that the musical, adapted from the 1992 film, will play its 1,005th and final performance at the Nederlander Theatre on Aug. 24. Originally scheduled for a far more limited run, Newsies drew praise and earned Tony Awards for its original score, by Alan Menkenand Jack Feldman, and choreographer Christopher Vattelli.

Newsies marked the first Tony for Menken, a stage and film veteran whose credits include Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid and Little Shop Of Horrors (as well as Aladdin, which made him a Tony nominee again this year), and for his collaborators.

The show, which also features a book by Harvey Fierstein, will launch a tour in October, reaching 25 cities over 43 weeks.
