Lakewood native says she dealt with frequent headaches, fever and the classic swelling of her jaw and neck
COLUMBUS -- Ohio State University sophomore Maddy Koz is one of 93 students infected with mumps.
The outbreak in Columbus is now up to 116.
Koz is from Lakewood and just returned to class Tuesday after spending a miserable five days in isolation suffering from the symptoms.
She says she dealt with frequent headaches, fever and the classic swelling of her jaw and neck.
Koz says she thought she was vaccinated against mumps but learned from her doctor that the vaccine is not always 100 percent effective and is even less so if a child only received one dose instead of the standard two.
