CLEVELAND - - With colder temperature outside, hot meals serve an even greater importance here in Northeast Ohio. Charter One Bank and the Cleveland Foodbank kicked-off the 2013 holiday fundraising campaign Thursday.
Charter One provided volunteer hours and hundreds of thousands of dollars to help serve food banks state wide. More than 100,000 meals for local families was prepared and packaged.
This is all part of the fundraising campaign with Charter One called Carving Out Hunger. The program helps raise awareness on hunger issues and provide holiday meals throughout Cleveland.
This year alone, Charter One will provide the program $70,000 to the Cleveland Foodbank which will help pay for more than 7,000 turkeys.
Nearly thirty-nine tons of food will be distributed throughout the greater Cleveland area this year.
