CLEVELAND -- Northeast Ohio is reaching out to help the survivors of this weekend's deadly typhoon. More than 10,000 people are feared dead.
Fairmount Temple has been collecting shoes since October through the Soles4Souls program, and so far they have 1,700 pairs of shoes. They learned today those shoes will go to the Philippines.
"We are just so happy to be able to help when something like this happens," says Marla Wolf, religious school director.
A tractor-trailer will pick up the shoes tomorrow. Any badly-worn shoes will be repaired before being sent to the Philippines. The local Filipino community is meeting tonight with the American Red Cross to decide how best to help those left behind in the devastation.
