MEDINA -- An attorney says a 10-year-old Amish girl with leukemia hasn't been in contact with a guardian appointed to make medical decisions for her after her parents decided to stop her chemotherapy treatments.

The guardian's attorney says Sarah Hershberger's parents haven't responded to attempts to reach them since an Ohio appeals court in October sided with a hospital seeking to force the girl to restart chemotherapy.

The attorney says the girl hasn't resumed treatments at Akron Children's Hospital. It's not clear if she's undergoing chemotherapy anywhere else.

Doctors at the Akron hospital say the girl will die without the treatments.

Sarah's parents, who live in northeast Ohio's Medina County, stopped chemotherapy because they say the effects were terrible. They say they opted for natural medicines, such as herbs and vitamins.
