PERKINS TOWNSHIP -- Three people were injured in a four-vehicle crash Wednesday near the Sandusky Mall.
Kenneth R. Phillips, 67, of Sandusky was driving south on U.S. Route 250 in a 2006 Ford Focus about 4:50 p.m. when he attempted to turn left into the mall, according to the Sandusky post of the State Highway Patrol.
He turn in front of two northbound vehicles, one of which struck him.
Craig D. Smith, 77, of Sandusky attempted to swerve but struck Phillips with his 2005 Chevrolet Avalanche.
Michael B. Herner, 49, of Clyde, who was driving a 2000 Lincoln Continental, was able to brake but was struck by debris from the first two cars crashing.
Harriet M. Lopez, 82, of Fremont was sitting at the traffic light in her 2003 Buick Century when Smith's vehicle slid into her car.
Phillips, Smith and Smith's passenger, Sharon F. Phillips, 61, of Sandusky were injured. Herner and Lopez were unhurt.
Kenneth Phillips was taken to Firelands Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. Sharon Phillips was taken to Firelands then LifeFlighted to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo. Smith was taken to Firelands with minor injuries.
The Perkins Township Police Department and the Perkins Township Fire Department assisted the Highway Patrol.
